I see District and School Board meetings listed.

Wouldn’t it be a good idea to have a less formal group meeting for people interested in furthering music programs (or at least helping them survive in the schools)? A few people going in to make a few statements or ask a few questions doesn’t apply much pressure to a School Board or Budget Committee. Interested people need to meet as a group to discuss strategies.

Maybe it is a good idea to have a place and a time for interested parents, teachers, students and others to meet for discussions on what is going on with schools’ music programs, how it got to this point, what could happen, and what to do to make things happen the way we would like them to.

I like to see kids develop their musical abilities, for many reasons, but I feel quite helpless in dealing with the school system, and would enjoy learning how to do something about it.
